It's with its Trophy-R variant that the Mégane 4 RS has won this title awarded by our colleagues from the magazine Échappement. It was ahead of Focus ST and Toyota Supra.
It is a tradition: in their December issue, our colleagues in Escape organize the election of the sport of the year, with a title awarded by editorial journalists, but also pilots and readers. The big winner of 2019 is the Renault Megane RS Trophy-R.
An undeniable title against the other models in competition, because the compact of the Diamond was acclaimed by the three parts. This is the fourth time that the Megane has won the title, after winning in 2007, 2008 and 2014.
And this is the first distinction for the fourth generation, whose RS version "classic" had missed the victory in 2018 ... at benefit from another model of the group, the Alpine A110. The Trophy-R was ahead of the Ford Focus ST Pack and Toyota Supra.
Holding the record of the lap in the category of pull-ups on the Nürburgring circuit in Germany and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the Trophy-R retains the 300 hp block of the Trophy variant. But
Renault Sport has revised the running gear and aerodynamics and has been hunting for extra pounds, with up to 130 kg less. Only 500 copies will be produced. The starting price is 55 900 € in France ... but there is surely nothing more available.
