Lexus made simple for its arrival on the electric market: not a new model but a variant of the UX. Unfortunately, the autonomy announced is not dreaming.
For its first 100% electric production vehicle, Lexus has chosen to convert its UX compact SUV. This new variant, named 300th, has just been presented in China, the main market for electric, with sales favored by quotas.
But commercialization in Europe is already planned for 2020. If it boasts in its pubs the merits of its simple hybrids that are freed from the constraint of the refill, Lexus wants to be able to meet the growing demand of Europeans for the 100 % electric. This UX 300e will compete with the Volvo XC40 Refill.
This model adopts a power unit placed at the front of 150 kW, that is 204 hp. The maximum torque is 300 Nm. There is a lithium-ion battery of 54.3 kWh. Lexus announces a range of 400 km ... but with the old NEDC measurement cycle. In real conditions, we must hope for just 300 km, which is little for an electric model launched in 2020.
In terms of style, the 300e variant is recognizable by its specific rims, with improved aerodynamics. There are also new protections for the basements. Nothing else moves, we find the look so special of the UX.
